Hi Sir,

Hi have installed SMP Core and configured the same successfully. After that i installed sitemanpro plugin successfully.
Now i have a requirement to integrate registration having three type of users namely , normal/free, registered and premium user.
How can i perform the same using the siteManPro plugin. Will i have to buy any new addon for doing the registration of users in SMP.
Please reply with your suggestions.
Hoping for a positive reply.

Regards,

Joffin Joy

Currently, SMP doesn't offer multiple levels of users. There can be either a free user or a paid customer. What you are looking for can be achieved via creating different products as "free membership, registered membership, and premium membership". Then let your users signup and restrict the access of the users based on what product they have purchased.

it would really be helpful to a lot of folks if you could expand more on that answer; I have been wondering (need to test soon) if you had two members areas (silver and gold for example) inside the same blog how would you configure memberpress to restrict access to certain pages based on the subscrition level, surely when users have access to login to one subscription they have access to all pages you have selected to be "Accessible by Paid Members Only? ", is that not so?

How would you configure memberpress so that gold members can only access certain pages and silver members can only access certain pages - I cannot envisage it being possible possible unless you use WordPress 3 multisite feature and create a silver blog and a gold blog. silver subscibers would only be able to access the silver blog and gold members the gold blog; effectively you are using two instances of the memberpress plugin to acheive the desired control, I have not tested it but cant see why it would not work, can anyone confirm?

Hi Scorpio,

Yes, in its current version of MemberPress, you'd need two instances of WP, using its multisite feature, to create two sections of Silver and Gold members. But if you can wait until Jan 15th, we are coming out with MemberPress new version that will allow you to control access on each post based on user's purchase of a product. So you can create a post, assign it to a product (silver product) and create another post and assign it to gold product. That way you won't require two instances of WP.

Hope this helps.

scorpio,

I apologize for the delay in the release of the new feature. The user-level functionality is almost done. There was some issue at the time of testing. I'll check back with the development team to see when we'll be ready for the release.

But, I am guessing, it shouldn't take more than a week.

Thanks for your patience.

Hi Jeff,

New version of MemberPress (1.2) has been released now. Please download it from your member area. I will post a short tutorial on the new feature, but here is quick info about the new feature so you can get started asap.

This version allows you to protect parts of the posts. Let's say you want to protect only the parts of the post such that some text in a post is available to logged in members only. You can do that using the following short codes:

This is your free part of post. [smp engine=on|error=(This message is available to only people who bought this product.)|pid=1]If you are seeing this message then you are a premium member.[/smp] Edit or delete it, then start blogging!

Some more free part of text. [smp engine=on|error=(This message is available to only people who bought this product buddy.)|pid=18]If you are seeing this message then you are a premium member again, wow!![/smp]

[smp engine=on|pid=18]If you are seeing this message then you are a GOLD member.[/smp]

Then some more free text.

Notice how we have used pid field to check access of a member for different products purchased. So you can use the same for creating different levels of memberships as well. For example, you create a silver and gold membership and product ids for these two membership products in SMP are 3 and 4 respectively. So, in Wordpress, now you can create posts and tie access to different memberships using pid=3 or pid=4 in the short code.

Please let me know if you have questions.

I tried to get the update but my account shows that I can't access MemberPress anymore as of a few days ago, but I had originally purchased what I understood was to be an unlimited version with lifetime upgrades, but what my account shows now is that it has expired. Also I have an annual support contract, too which covers installs of new software upgrades etc. so I'm confused why I can't get the new MemberPress Plugin download...can you explain what's up?

Hey Jeff,

You purchased MemberPress on Feb 01, 2011. Hence, it expired on Feb 01, 2012. Our initial policy was "upgrades free for a year". But with new policy in effect, we are providing plugin upgrades free for lifetime. Hence, we extended your subscription. Please download the new version from your member area.

Let me know if you have any questions.

Thanks,
Richa
