Hi,

1) Is CDNVault the same thing as MediaVault? I only want video and file PROTECTION (on Amazon s3). No extra video features (I think). If different; which one to buy? I understand MediaVault protects FILES on Amazon s3. Will it protect videos as well?

2) Can I protect "ordinary" videos (and documents) without using the FlowPlayer at all? Or is the only way to protect VIDEO files by using the FlowPlayer? So as long as I don't need any special video features (other than protection) - can I use the protection software and forget about the FlowPlayer restrictions?

Thank you

Hi Tony,

Thanks for your questions. Please see my replies below:

1) Which one to buy - MediaVault or CDNVault ?

It depends on what you are using - SiteManPro (SMP) or WordPress (WP). For SMP > use Mediavault, for WP > use CDNVault.

- MediaVault is a plugin for SMP that works with MemberPress (our WordPress plugin for membership sites) too.
- CDNVault is a WP plugin only and it is more robust than MediaVault.

MediaVault doesn't protect videos as of now. But, it will have that functionality in its next version. So, if you are using SMP, go for MV for now. The next version which will have video protection, is expected by Feb end or early March.

2) Do I need FlowPlayer ?

Flowplayer is included in CDNVault. You need a player to play the videos, Flowplayer provides you that player. However, if you simply wish to let your users download the videos and not play the videos online, then you don't need to use FlowPlayer. Simply use file tags of CDNVault to protect the URL.

Summary:

If WordPress -> Use CDNVault -> customers will be able to download videos (protected) but won't be able to play them online
If SiteManPro -> Use MediaVault -> file protection available (PDF stamping), video protection available soon

I hope this helps answer your question. Let me know if you have any further questions.

Thanks,
