Hi, I have a long story behind me of valuing SMP + MemberPress above other solutions because of its strong and versatile ground structure. My drawback has been: Up to now MemberPress does not support the WP typical localization features like .mo or .po files. And SMP core does not use UTF-8 charset so the translation that I did once for the login page showed unreadable characters.

My questions:

1, If I decide now for SMP + MemberPress: will I get support for manually tranlating the text strings that are relevant for the front end?

2. Is there a definite plan to include translation features into MemberPress? (So I don´t loose my translation work with every update?)

Thanks,
Demian

>> I am not clear on this Demian. Do you mean that you want support to manually translate English words to a different language? If that's the case, I'd suggest you to use Google translation tool to translate language on your front end. If it's something else, please let me know and I will be glad to help.

>> Yes we do have, but we are focused on building the SMP Core as of now. I understand from Deep that you are a developer and you have expressed interest in writing the translation on your own. If you do the translation yourself, we will definitely maintain and support that. We can include the .mo .po files that you write, in our distribution. Please let us know if you need any technical help with this.

Hi Richa, thanks for your response. Unfortunately I just now happen to see it because for some reason I did not get notified of your answer although I follow this topic. (?!)

To clarify this: the translation of the words themselves I can do very well. What is difficult and error prone is to find the text strings in the different files that show on the front end. I can search for them and replace the strings but If something goes wrong I need support to figure out what the error was. Also If It would be easyly possible I would like to get a hint teliing me where strings are located that show on front end.

I am not a developer, but I have experience with translating WP plugins. To easily produce .po and .mo files the plugIn would have to use gettext php functions which the plugin does not do in its current version. I am willing to do a transitory translation (will be overridden by any update) if I know that there are serious plans to implement gettext functions so that localization will be easily possible and produce lasting results.

Thanks,

Hi Richa, thanks for your fast reply to my personal message. Here is a resource to clarify further the basic requirement so that MemberPress can be localized easily avoding unnecessary loss with future updates: http://codex.wordpre...ress_Developers

Thanks,

Thanks Demian for sharing the link. I'll forward this to Deep who'll discuss it with our developer team and respond back to you soon.

Thanks,
Richa

Thanks Richa, would be great to get a definite answer on this issue pretty soon, so I can say a whole hearted "Yes!" to buying Smp. Be well, Demian
